Opportunity for Survivors of Conflict, Oppression, and Disaster
OSCOD
These are OSCOD’s two initiatives:
1) Helping High-Risk Afghan Refugees Escape Afghanistan and Settle in the U.S.
OSCOD has successfully assisted 58 Afghan refugees in fleeing Afghanistan and resettling in the United States, where they are now beginning new lives. Many of these refugees faced long, costly stays in third countries before finally reaching the U.S., highlighting the complexity and financial burden of their journey to safety.
2) Empowering Multiethnic Communities in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (outside of Syrian Government control)
Through our locally licensed partner NGO, ACES (Action for Community Empowerment in Syria), OSCOD provides essential training and multiethnic capacity-building programs focused on trauma recovery, resilience, and protection from abuse. These initiatives offer support to women, children, and other vulnerable populations, including displaced families living in tent camps, people with disabilities, and survivors of conflict and oppression. By empowering these individuals, we aim to foster healing, strengthen communities, and create safer environments for the most vulnerable.
ACES: Supporting Mental Health and Healing in War-Torn Northern Syrian Communities
Our local partner, Action for Community Empowerment in Syria (ACES), is an officially licensed local NGO in northern Syria that we founded in 2022 in collaboration with Columbia University (New York) to provide mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) training to leaders serving communities impacted by war, oppression and trauma.
Over the past two years, we expanded our focus to empowering communities and protecting women and children from abuse and training 100 teachers in the most underserved region of northern Syria.
About Us
ACES works to:
Improve mental health and psychosocial support for populations in northern Syria affected by conflict, oppression, and other adverse experiences.

Develop capacity for teachers on modern teaching strategies, interactive learning, teaching life skills, etc.
