Tom Miller
CO-FOUNDER, PRESIDENT
Tom Miller served as a career US Foreign Service Officer for 29 years, including as ambassador to Greece (2001-04) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (1999-2001). Tom has headed several large international nonprofits, including Plan International from 2005-09, an NGO supporting children, families, and communities in 44 developing countries. From 2010 to 2018, he was CEO of IESC, which works worldwide and had two large projects in Afghanistan. From 2011 to 2023, he was the Chair of the International Commission on Missing Persons, which identifies missing persons using DNA and provides closure for their families.

Nickolas Calbos
CO-FOUNDER, VICE PRESIDENT
Nick Calbos is a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Previously, he worked as an Information Operations specialist on the US Army Europe staff; as a Field Manager for congressional political campaigns in New York State; and served for 7 years as a US Army Infantry Officer in Korea, Thailand, the US, and in combat operations in Southern Afghanistan.

Bonnie Miller
CO-FOUNDER, SECRETARY & TREASURER
Bonnie Miller’s professional experience spans five decades as a social worker, psychotherapist, professor, author, podcast host, social activist, and international trainer. She has extensive background working in countries that have experienced conflict, genocide, and oppression of women and minorities. She has taught Psychology and Social Work at universities around the world and has facilitated numerous training sessions on Conflict Resolution in many countries that have been impacted by decades of civil war. Bonnie is the co-founder of ACES and provides all of its mental health training.

Susan Anderson founded The ArtReach Foundation in 1999, an international non-profit that was established as a response to the devastating war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. ArtReach is dedicated to children and adults in their recovery from traumatic effects of conflict, violence or natural disaster.
Dale Barnes, nurse and educator, has been a member of Rotary since 2001 and has been devoted to many humanitarian projects worldwide. She is the past president of two Rotary Clubs and is currently active in the International committee and the Foundation committee of the Phoenix 100 Rotary Club.
Christina Calbos has over 10 years’ experience in migration, gender equity, and youth empowerment. At the peak of the Mediterranean refugee crisis, Christina served in multiple positions with both the Danish Refugee Council and Norwegian Refugee Council in refugee camps throughout the islands and mainland of Greece.

Ana Lejava is a policy associate at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. She manages the development and execution of all activities within the Institute’s policy and advocacy portfolio and provides critical research and writing support for GIWPS’ interventions in crisis response efforts and policy processes.

Mildred Patterson was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer for 26 years and an expert in consular affairs who served at several U.S. missions. She is the Vice President of Encore Learning, Arlington County's learning-in-retirement organization.
David L. Phillips is the former director of Columbia University’s Program on Peacebuilding and Human Rights and founding director of the University’s Conflict Resolution Program. He is presently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Visiting Research Scholar at Oxford University.
Mark Starnes retired from a 30-year career in Forest Products with Procter & Gamble and Weyerhaeuser. He served on the regional board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Tacoma, Washington, and College Success Foundation (CSF), which helps thousands of low income, first generation college students achieve their dream of a college degree.
